Collieston is a beautiful small former fishing village on the North Sea coast about 16 miles north of Aberdeen. The village lies just north of the Sands of Forvie Special Protection Area, between Cruden Bay and Newburgh. Within the village of Collieston there is a fantastic, well known beach. Sheltered from the North Sea by Collieston Pier the sandy beach is perfect for families and children and the nearby ‘Smugglers Cone’ shop serves delicious ice cream, drinks and snacks.

Immediately to the south of Collieston is the vast expanse of Forvie National Nature Reserve, a stretch of sand dunes leading all the way to the River Ythan at Newburgh. From Aberdeen travel in the direction of Peterhead and take the Newburgh turn off. Follow this road passing through Newburgh leaving the village in the direction of Cruden Bay.
