Cults

Cults is an attractive and popular suburb of Aberdeen, conveniently located just a few miles west of the city centre. Situated on the banks of the River Dee and surrounded by beautiful countryside, Cults also retains a village feel and boasts a number of green spaces despite its close proximity to the city.  Cults is ideal for commuters and families alike with property ranging from its famous granite homes to bungalows and luxury flats.

Cults is also well equipped with amenities despite its small community feel. History of Cults

Historically, Cults was connected to the city of Aberdeen, and likewise Deeside, via the Royal Deeside Railway at two different train stations. The railway ceased to operate towards the middle of the 20th century but has since been reclaimed as a scenic cycle route which takes you from the village’s popular Allen park to Duthie park in Aberdeen.  While the railway has long since been closed, there are still regular bus services into Aberdeen and the surrounding areas placing the city in easy reach of residents.

The area is also home to a great selection of leisure facilities. Cults Sports Complex is a modern, multi-functional facility with a 6-lane swimming pool, indoor sports halls and a fitness suite. Keen golfers can tee off at the nearby Deeside golf club, regularly considered one of the best inland courses in the country and offering spectacular views over its 18 holes.

The River Dee is perfect for salmon and trout fishing, and, for those looking to really unwind, the village is a 5-minute drive from the Marcliffe Hotel and Spa, which offers a range of 5 star rated spa treatments.

Schools in Cults

There are several excellent options for education nearby. Cults School is a popular, mid-sized primary with an onsite nursey unit. Cults Academy is the local secondary school and is regularly reported as one of the top performing schools in the country. Located near the excellent leisure facilities, the school offers a comprehensive program of education in a light, modern, state of the art facility. Free bus travel is also offered by the school for pupils travelling from three or more miles away from the school but within the catchment area. For private education, the area is a short drive from the International School of Aberdeen which offers world-class learning facilities for ages 3-18.
