Glenlivet

The many hamlets of Glenlivet are situated within Moray, 10 minutes from the A95, surrounded by the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.

This much sought after rural location, located in the Spey Valley amidst some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery, is also home to some of the finest landscapes of the Grampian Highlands with clear rushing burns, rivers and sheltered valleys. Glenlivet is also home to the famous Glenlivet Distillery, which was founded in 1824 and creates one of the most famous and best-loved whiskies in the world, and there are other historic whisky distilleries nearby including Glenfiddich, Glenfarclas, Macallan, and Aberlour.

There is a real sense of community in Glenlivet, with numerous local events taking place regularly, and the area is only a short drive from a number of nearby towns including Aberlour, Dufftown, Grantown and Tomintoul, which gives further access to plenty of essential local amenities.

There are a number of outdoor activities and sports facilities within easy reach, which offer plenty of opportunities for walking, orienteering, mountain biking and fishing. Additionally, The Moray Firth is less than an hour away from Glenlivet and is great for surfing, coasteering, sailing, and fishing.

Glenlivet is also surrounded by many historic sites, including castles, ancient monuments and Highland estates. These include the local ruins of Drumin and Blairfindy Castles as well as Ballindalloch Castle, one of the finest surviving examples of a Scottish Baronial Castle, and Balmoral Castle, which is the Queen’s summer residence.

The village is served by Glenlivet Primary School, which has just 18 pupils and there are several other primary schools and nursery units at various locations nearby. Speyside High School, which has around 437 pupils enrolled, is the nearest secondary school to Glenlivet, situated in Aberlour. It has a bus service for pupils living further than three miles from the school.
