The present church of St Mary's in Monymusk dates from the late 12th to early 13th Century and contains various monuments as well as a Pictish symbol stone known as the Monymusk Stone.
Monymusk Primary School serves the village, and has around 60 pupils enrolled. It also has an award-winning wildlife garden within the grounds encouraging outdoor learning. This school feeds into Kemnay Academy, which is situated at around 4 miles from Monymusk in the neighbouring village of Kemnay. Pupils who live three or more miles from Kemnay Academy are entitled to a free bus service, which operates to and from the school. There are around 820 pupils enrolled at the school who each benefit from the recent £14.3 million extension. This investment helped to build a new gym, music room, additional support for learning facilities, and extra classroom space.
