Easter activities in Aberdeen 2019
It may be a little later this year, however Easter is almost upon us and, with it, the spring holidays.
For many North East schools, the spring holidays are from the 29th of March to the 14th of April, which means parents have two weeks of time to fill.
Here are five ways to keep the children entertained during the Easter break.
Easter egg Hunt
You may be planning your own Easter egg hunt in your garden, but you can take it to the next level by attending one of the Cadburys and National Trust hunts at various castles around Aberdeenshire.
Castle Fraser, Drum Castle and Pitmedden Garden are all hosting Easter Egg hunts over the weekend, with the majority open between 11am and 4pm from Good Friday to Easter Monday, allowing plenty of opportunity for the little ones to get fresh air and exercise, as well as a chocolate treat.

Of course, these are not the only Easter egg hunts options, with many local events also taking place. For example, Aden Country Park in Mintlaw is hosting an ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ on Easter Sunday, with an egg hunt, train rides, alpacas and bouncy castles.
Doonies Farm
All the Easter chocolate eaten? Head for fresh air and exercise at Doonies Farm which opens up in April for the Spring and Summer season.
The rare breed farm features animals such as pigs, horses and sheep – and there are likely to be a lot of spring time lambs to coo over!
Easter Fèis: Gaelic Arts Festival
Looking for something to get the kids out of your hair for a little bit longer? The Aberdeen Feis at Craigievar House is running from Monday 1st April to Wednesday 3rd April.
The three-day event is made up of traditional music and arts related workshops, and offers different levels depending on what you feel your child’s musical talents are.
Children from ages 0-18 are welcome, with events beginning at 9:30am and finishing at 3:30pm.
Aberdeen Arts Centre Easter School
For aspiring actors and actresses, the Aberdeen Arts Centre is running a week long Easter school for children aged three to fifteen years, from Monday 8th April to Friday 12th April.
Groups are split into P1-3, P4-7 and S1-3 to participate in a number of different workshops, including drama, musical theatre, dance and crafts. The children will work towards creating a short film and parents and friends will be invited to the exclusive premiere at the end of the week.
Classes start at 10:00am and finish at 3:30pm, however an early drop of time of 9:00am is available for an additional cost.
Adventure Aberdeen
For more adventurous children, the Adventure Aberdeen programme is running throughout the holiday period.
The activities can be booked for the whole week, or chosen on a day-by-day basis, and include options such as abseiling, kayaking and mountain biking.
Most of the events begin at 9am, running until 4pm, and need to be booked in advance. For full day events, parents will need to provide a lunch.
