Last week, we hosted our first ever virtual “Ask the Expert” event. With an expert panel assembled from the local property sector, the focus for this event was on answering burning questions from members of the public around Covid-19 and the North East property market.

This latest report follows on from the severe consequences of lockdown disclosed in the previous report. The Q2 report showed a sharp drop in sales which reduced by a third, as well as a significant drop in properties coming on to the market.

Four properties benefitting from the LBTT holiday

In July, the Scottish Government increased the threshold for Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) for residential property transactions. The temporary change to the rules raises the Nil Rate Band or “threshold” for LBTT to £250,000 for residential transactions, with the intention of discontinuing the measure on 31st March 2021
